Bethenny-The Real Housewife

How refreshing! Bethenny’s Getting Married? is so fun to watch! Bethenny is so relatable – she let’s us see her at her happiest and when she breaks down in tears. And it doesn’t feel contrived (like the other RHONY women).

Bethenny really does own her behavior – apologizing to her poor wedding planner who got blasted by Bethenny just for being in the same room.

And Bethenny doesn’t fake an answer just because something is ‘expected’ of her. For example, when her best friend asked what percent she was that she was ready to get married, you could see Bethenny kind of fighting her own commitment issues and answering with around 90% (most brides to be would gush “100%). And indeed you should be 100% sure before you say I DO. And later in the show Bethenny was at 1million percent sure she was ready to marry Jason – it was really cute how she related this to Jason.

And didn’t we just love the Bachelor/Bacheloretee party? At the dinner, they looked like really good friends, not just ‘camera’ friends. I absolutely adore Bethenny’s best friend. I hope she is on the show more. This is what I enjoy watching – real people going through real life – NOT the fake drama that this last season of RHONY had.

OH MY GOSH – I almost forgot! Bethenny at the book signing at COSTCO. How funny was that! I thought it was great that Bethenny was able to make a joke about no one coming to the signing and getting all her shopping done. And Jason was too sweet, bring Bethenny all the free food samples.

I can not wait for more of Bethenny’s Getting Married? next week. Maybe enjoy a Passionpolitan (pg. 84 Sandra Lee semi-hometested Cocktail Time) while you are watching the show!

RHONY- Reunion Part 1

How crazy uncomfortable was this RHONY reunion show? I’m glad Andy Cohen let Alex have her say, but I have to agree with Bethenny, enough is enough.

Really, Jill might cry, and I’m sure she really feels bad right now- but only for herself. Jill does not seem capable of understanding how awful she is to people. Jill really needs to be in charge and has to have a posse to be happy. So continuing to tell Jill why you don’t like the things she has done only produces more tears and uncomfortableness and does not change who Jill is or how she behaves.

Too bad. I wonder if Real Housewives of NY will be back. For Long. Really. Bethenny Frankel is gone. Jill Zarin is just bad news. Kelly Killeren Bensimon should go have a rest somewhere (else). LuAnn de Lesseps is boring. Sonja Morgan is a good change of pace, so that’s good. Ramona Singer should definitely stay – you never know what she will do, but it’s always entertaining!!! Ramona may be rude, but she is not mean – so I can handle. that. Alex McCord … well, Alex might be OK – but she and Simon are still a little bit creepy to me.

So anyway, at this 1st of 3 reunion shows, Jill walked off… And Kelly walked off. Maybe Andy should take away 1 hour of their air time each time they walk off. You can just bet they’d keep their keisters in place!

Or maybe they should enjoy a COSMORITA (Sandra Lee semi-homemade Cocktail Time) next week! And take it down a notch. Nahh!!! It’s gonna be a gladiator fight to the end…

Jill – “You no likes me?”

Now that it’s painfully obvious that Jill Zarin has alienated most of the housewives and shattered public opinion of herself, Jill offers her ‘friendship’ back to Bethenny.

Bethenny agrees to meet for lunch to talk, but it is clear the friendship is over – in Bethenny’s words ‘divorce is hard’.

Jill through all her tears, still doesn’t quite get it – it’s clear that she is a spoiled child just trying to get what she wants one more time. I think Bethenny is smart to agree to be cordial but to pass on the ‘friendship’. Jill seems so beaten down after that conversation, but within hours, Jill is at Ramona’s wedding vow reaffirmation ceremony, talking smack about being kept waiting and how crappy it is that Ramona didn’t have appetizers out. She can’t be nice to her ‘friends’ for more than 2 minutes.

And, what’s with Jill’s (buddy?) event planner – This new character dumps on Ramona’s event planner just because she’s not skinny like her????? What the ??

I will say that this season’s shocker was really Ramona – who knew she’d be the one most pulled together and the one giving out the most sound advice?? OK, there was the ‘Turtle’ thing – but hey, we’ve all been there!

Well, the RHONJ Season wrap-up is sure to be Caaaa-Raaaazzzy! It will definitely call for a special Semi-HomeTested Cocktail!

Jill Kicked on her Butt

Woo-hoo! Jill finally gets to reap her just rewards. Although it is sad to see anyone treated badly, Jill just jets in and drops in on Ramona’s Island getaway, acting like nothing bad has passed between Jill and Bethenny. OR Jill and Alex. And after poo-poo’ing Ramona’s (OK lavish) plans to renew her vows, Jill expects Ramona to be thrilled that she is now ready to drop in and celebrate with the housewives???

And what did Jill expect her poor husband to do on the island of Meltdowns? Well, it turned out that wasn’t a worry as the housewives shunned Jill and sent her packing. On her private jet.

My take is that Jill fought with everyone – High School mean girl style – and lost. Jill’s TV popularity rating must be really low for her to come crawling back to Bethenny like that.

And how sad is it that Kelly, after leaving the island, had lunch with Jill (who I might add was very catty to her) and LuAnn which only solidified everyone’s opinion that Kelly has lost it.

Anyway – this show is getting tres boring – the most entertaining thing that happened is that Jill fell on her butt at her party while ice skating in a 1970′s looking skating outfit!!!

SO, let me recap. Jill got kicked on her butt, then she fell on her butt. Yup, boring!

But we must stay tuned. Jill called Bethenny for a truce luncheon. Bethenny accepted the lunch date, but will she renew her friendship??? I’m betting NO. Jill has talked badly about Bethenny to too many people.

But I still want to know – (and I do like Bethenny) – what is going to make Bethenny’s new show entertaining?

I must say that at least I enjoyed the Creamsicle Martini -pg.79 Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade Cocktail Time book while I watched the show!

Meltdown or Breakdown?

What started out as funny and ridiculous, ended up as just plain sad.  Did Kelly have a real nervous breakdown?  If so, this is no longer amusing.  Someone on that production staff needs to be responsible and get that girl some help.

Or is it a matter of wacky Kelly mixing alcohol with (prescribed?) medicine??? Still, not liking that either.

So now we have Pinot (wino) Ramona, Ka-razy Kelly, mean Jill, snobby/cliquey Countless, and hivey Alex.  With Bethenny going off to her own show, it’s a good thing the show has brought Sonja into the mix!

And it looks like Sonja is in the middle of this mess, thinking – crap, I’m not in Kansas anymore.  She did a good thing by getting the circling wolves at the villa to back away from Kelly.

Well, I have a feeling after Sonja assesses these crazies, she might beg the producers to bring in a few more ‘normal’ (albeit rich) NY housewives.

Yowzaa!!   Just when the residents are settling down, Jill decides to grace them with her company – we’ll have to stay tuned, but from the preview, it does not look like she will be welcomed.  Poor public opinion of Jill’s catty behavior seems to have given Jill a change of heart toward Bethenny.  Hmmm… will Bethenny forgive her?  should she??

My opinion is Bethenny should ignore Jill for now, and move on and have fun with her new show. But will Bethenny’s show overlap with the RHONY cast? Guest appearances??

Regardless, HOW FUN WAS IT, that Luann seemed thoroughly dismantled by the thought that Jill was now open to being a friend with Bethenny again!! That may have been the best part of this episode for me! M E O W W W !

OK, contemplate all that while you whip up a batch of Semi-HomeTested Passionpolitan cocktails (from Sandra Lee semi-homemade Cocktail Time book).  And see ya next week!

Coo-Coo Yacht – RHONY

OK, we’ve got Bethenny, Sonja, Ramona, Kelly, and Alex out to sea. I’ve got to hand it to Ramona, she throws one helluva of a party!
Unfortunately, the bickering started from the get go and escalated in direct proportion to the alcohol served. But as grand as these ladies entrances are, their exits are equally pathetic – didn’t you just LOVE when Kelly got mad and flounced away from the lunch table, only to be bamboozled by a glass door – this Columbia educated woman could not figure out how to open an automated glass door!!! Maybe Bethenny is right that Kelly was probably confused when she said she went to Columbia and that Kelly must have meant the country!!!
I also love that they partied on the Hooters yacht (girls just want to have fun) moored next to them, but hate that Ramona was a slurring idiot. And then Kelly turned into a Coo-Coo Cruella. You can tell Kelly’s always had the monster in her head, but she really let it out in public!! Was she being so nasty to get more air time? I mean, it’s been announced that Bethenny is getting her own show, so maybe Kelly just wants to grab a juicy role for herself for next season (I read that she is the only NY housewife that has signed her contract for next season). I don’t think Alex is going to be strong enough to stand on her own when Bethenny is gone.
Now Sonja? Hmmm. Jury is still out. She seems to have a kind of 80’s mentality toward women, men, and well, let’s just call it ‘dating’.
And the Countess of Orange – I think of LuAnn this way because whatever tanner she is using makes her face look absolutely orange – (although she looked great on Andy Cohen’s ‘Watch What Happens’ show). And whoa – Does her new boyfriend creep you out a little?
All I can say is that it’s a good thing women tend to socialize in party settings and don’t in general go duck hunting! Although there was all that water…

The Claws Are Out!

Wow, where do I start? The show started with the press leak that Bethenny is pregnant – who knew about it, Bethenny, Jason, and who else? Let me just say 2 things about Bethany: 1 – her ring – WOWZA and 2 – her fiance – doesn’t he seem like a nice guy? Good for you Bethenny!!!

So moving on, Jill does her usual thing – she gets a gossip google alert, picks up the phone and starts gossiping on the pretext that she is trying to help Bethenny. And what’s really funny is that her sidekick Luann does a Rainman version of “I didn’t get the google… I didn’t get the google.. no one sent me the google…” Paaleazzze.

So now, the really good part – Alex decides she has to have it out with Jill. Again. I thought she was doing pretty good until she said Jill is in HS and she (Alex) is in Brooklyn. What?? And then, I got too distracted by the spreading blotches on her skin. I know she can’t help it, but perhaps, knowing that she breaks out in hives when she is upset, she could have better prepared for this confrontation by wearing a high neckline or a scarf or Something.

And I really felt bad for Alex when at the next party, her wing-man Simon, totally defected and was sitting on the floor entwined in the legs of her arch enemy Jill. What was he thinking. Alex called him to heal, and they left pronto. We’ll have to wait till next week to see if Simon is allowed on camera after that. Or is this just a ruse by the Silex team to make themselves more interesting to the viewers?? – hmmm… will they be cut from the show? The show is interviewing new housewives.
